“Ip Man is a 2008 Hong Kong biographical martial arts film based on the life of Yip Man, a grandmaster of the martial art Wing Chun and teacher of Bruce Lee.” There are so far three movies in this series and all are based off real life events. The first movie however has to do with the invasion of china by japan and how the people were treated. A Japanese commander called for the best martial art fighters from around to come fight his men and their own form of martial arts to prove who is superior. Anyone who fought would get a bag of rice. Ip Man ended up being so good that he himself got to take on the officer in charge. Theses fights did not stop the war but it was important to the people. This was a personal victory and brought back pride. There is a lot more important information to make this movie what it is but this was just a summary. The fact that actually happened is inspiring. The movie is subbed in English but in this movie actions really do speak louder than words. I highly suggest these movies they are historical, action packed, and heart racing. The editing is fast and mostly consist of establishing shots. The setting is in the south of China so in the 1930s, I’m not to brushed but on that particular area of history but the sets are beautiful and everything looks so authentic. Be sure to check out these movies! Also, here is a fun fact, I know the great great grandson of Ip Man.
