I saved the last of my blog posts for the best movie! Serenity is a Space Western made in 2005 based off of the short TV series Firefly. The show did not have a long run but has a huge cult following (myself being a fellow brown coat) the show was so well loved that Universal studios picked it up for one movie. Directed by Joss Whedon who also directed the TV show. The movie did not do too well in the box office but, in the community it was a gift from the Gods! The use of so many props, settings, lighting and acting gave this movie so much charm and realism. Joss Whedon is known for his many amazing movies and this I personally believe this is one of them. The wide camera angles used make everything big which works well because the setting is mainly in space. The movie starts with a brother rescuing his sister from a government lab and now they are to be hunted down. The siblings find refuge on a ship called Serenity with an eccentric group of people and become part of the team. The crew pulls jobs whether it is legal or not to quote the captain, “You got a job, we can do it, don’t care much what it is.” The government tracking down the siblings finds ways to get to them. The sister starts breaking down and remembers something the government wanted to cover up. It is the crews job to tell the universe what it is and they secede. There are so many important pieces missing from the summary but that is almost the jest of it. I highly recommend this movie is you like science fiction, westerns, comedies, dramas, and action. It is currently on Netflix. This is an American made movie so it is a bit over the top but that makes it fun. Every movie I have talked about has been from a different genre and from a different country. This movie I would say is the best of movie from the movies I’ve covered.
